I went on several job interviews this week. One was for a sales position with a great company, and I am really hoping that I get it. I was in the top 5, and had a second (phone) interview on Thursday. I really REALLY hope to hear from them tomorrow. It’s a job that I know I’d be good at, and would enjoy.
The other job I interviewed for is the one I need advice on. I won’t go into details about the job, but let me give you the pros and cons:
Pros
-The potential to make a 6-figure salary due to 40% commission on a service that cost $15,000-$20,000.
-A draw on said commission.
Cons
-About a 45 minute commute in traffic.
-12 hours a day, in a cubicle, on the phone. ‘Nuff said.
So, my question is this: If offered this job, would you take it? It’s doing something similar to what I was doing before, except not in a non-profit (obviously) and on a national, rather than local, level. The company is solid, the manager seems like a decent guy (mainly because he’s brutally honest), and let’s face it, the money is great. BUT, I’d be working incredibly long hours doing something that I loathe, and then I’d have a long commute home.
What would you do?

I’ve decided that I really need a place to document my job search, as well as my new business. I don’t want to put it on Two Working Parents because it doesn’t really fit there, and I already have this up and running, so there you go.
I’ve also updated my theme. The old theme was too dark and goth looking. I’m trying to look at my current situation as a new beginning…hence the grass. I just hope it doesn’t make me sneeze.
Now for an update.
Two weeks ago I lost my job. Yes, it was devistating, but I saw it coming. The part that sucks is the way I was let go. I will not go into details, but suffice it to say, it was completely underhanded, and because of that, there is a possibility that I will not get unemployment. I have applied, and am awaiting a phone interview to determine whether or not I’m eligible. I’m trusting in God that He will provide something, whether it be unemployment or a job or something else all together.
I have been applying for jobs left and right…at least 10 a day, but usually more. I’ve had a few bites, but no offers yet.
Lastly, I am starting a new business. I just filed my name today, and I’m super super excited! It is a resume writing service called Remarkable Resumes. I hope to have a website up in a few days (thanks to a few blogging friends!), and as soon as I do, I will certainly let you know!
In the meantime, if you or someone you know is in need of a resume, please contact me! The best way to reach me right now is at slubs5 at gmail.com or leave me a comment here!

I will return to blogging about my job search, but for now, this site will be vacant. I will post again when I have decided what I’m going to do with this site.
Until then, thanks for reading….you know….all 3 of you.
